How Much Do Personalised Guitar Picks Cost? A UK Price Guide

Personalised guitar picks range from cheap printed plastic packs to engraved real wood picks made to keep. What you pay depends on three things: the material, how the design is applied, and whether you're buying one pick as a gift or a bulk pack for a band. Here's what to expect in the UK, and what you get for the money.

What affects the price of a custom guitar pick?

1. Material

Most custom picks are printed celluloid, PVC or ABS plastic, sold in packs. Real wood, metal and stone picks cost more per pick, because each one is cut and finished individually. Wooden picks are the most popular premium choice for gifts: they're warm to hold, give a mellow acoustic tone and every one has a different grain. Our wooden guitar picks guide compares them with plastic.

2. Printed or engraved

Printing puts ink on the surface, so it can show full-colour photos but can wear off with playing. Laser engraving burns the design into the material, so it's permanent and has a natural, crafted look, in a single tone.

3. One-off gift or bulk pack

Bulk printed packs bring the price per pick down, which suits bands handing out picks at gigs. A single engraved pick, or a pick in an engraved box, is better as a gift because it's made to be kept.

Is a personalised pick worth it?

For a gift, yes. A pick with a name or message on it is small, affordable and something a guitarist actually uses and carries. Put it in an engraved box and it becomes a keepsake. For gig giveaways in the hundreds, a printed plastic bulk pack is the cheaper route.
